Today was my first meeting of the New Mom Support Group. It was so nice to meet other new mommies and see their babies! A few of us even went out afterwards for lunch (what a nice treat!) And yes, it was feeding time for James and he started to fuss. So, do I let him scream in hunger all the way home, or bite the bullet and attempt my first public nursing session in a restaurant??? Well, with the support of my new mommy-friends, I went ahead and decided to feed my hungry baby! Luckily, management and the workers at the deli didn't mind at all (it was the lunch rush-hour) but I was sweating bullets the entire time!!! It was kind of hard for me to see what was going under the wrap, but James seemed to "feel" his way around. Hopefully, a little more practice and we'll be pros at discreet public feedings!

Warning: Clothing Hazard
Here is the latest in my mommy adventures with Mr. James: This outfit looks innocent enough, right? Well, for some reason, every time I dress him in it, I have to change his clothes within a couple of hours. Usually, the culprits are spit up (he rarely spits up!), poop or pee. Well, today he outdid himself! Just an hour after I dressed him, right after a feeding, I went to place him in his bassinet and felt a sticky wetness on the front of my shorts, running down my legs. Yes, my precious baby boy managed to have a side "blow out" from his diaper and get it all over my shorts! Miraculously, he managed to get NONE of the poop on him or his outfit. Just me! I think this is the last we will see of this outfit!
Here are the shorts being rinsed out in the sink because for those of you who don't have babies around- that stuff stains! Of course, I had to be wearing WHITE!

Grandpa's Visit
This week, we are lucky to have my dad visiting from North Carolina. He's been busy helping with feedings, rocking and entertaining Baby James! He's also found time to go deep sea fishing, gambling at Hard Rock casino and practicing his Tai Chi by our pool. You can see that Bob likes hanging out with him, too!
What a cool Grandpa!

The Hayman Household
Here are all of our children! We started out with "the girls" (Abby on the left and Misha on the right). Then, along came Bob, our cat. Now, we have James (the two-legged breed). I think he fits right in and will soon learn that mommy is camera-happy! The girls are happy to finally have something else for me to dress up during Halloween, Christmas, etc and photograph for the world to see! As for the animals getting used to having a baby around, they have done very well! Abby still demands her lap time with "her" daddy but is very proud to accompany Baby James on our walks around the neighborhood. Misha follows his every move and sound. She likes to keep a watchful eye on "her baby." As for Bob, he runs for the back door every time the baby starts crying. He has no idea what we see in such a useless little bundle of noise that keeps disrupting his daily cat naps. Hopefully, he'll come around!

One Month Old!!!
Okay, so you see that he takes after his daddy and hates to have his picture taken!
Hey, nothing that a little bit of mommy's milk can't handle! Once he's fed, he's a happy camper! Eat first, smile later! It is hard to believe that I am the mother of a one month old baby.

Where has the month gone? It seems like an endless day of diaper changes, feedings, rocking, smooches, feedings and more diaper changes! I hope that the rest of his life doesn't fly by like this month. I also can't wait to see what our future together will bring.
Happy One Month James!

Birth Day
Baby James was born via c-section on July 9th weighing in at 8 lbs 5 oz and 20 inches at 8:32 pm after a long day of labor and pushing! He was NOT happy about being evicted and held his breath after the doctor pulled him out! (Where does he get this stubborn streak from?)
Soon enough, he started wailing like a wild cat and didn't calm down until he was in his daddy's arms!
